the images (at least like this, through a crappy movie on the net) are not really exciting, not artistically, not technically...

I think the important part of this whole deal is...this guy has to love what he's doing...one would have to to go through this whole process...
I would like to know what his normal (SLR or RF) shots look like or if he even uses a normal camera...???
