Next week I'll be offline and on vacation. I didn't want the August Meet-Up to be forgotten.

Seems like a good slot might be towards the middle of August to keep some distance from Labor day. Where did the summer go?

GEAR ALERT: I recieved a 100/3.5 AE for use with my Fuji/Texas Leicas. It is in LN condition and looks to be from a time capsule from 1974. I'll be getting an odd 6 volt battery today to see if it works and will provide AE on my meterless cameras. The big deal with this lense is the EBC multicoating. All other Fujica lenses for the interchangable lens Fuji's are all single coated.

Hi Cal,

Any big plan for vacation? I will be away for a few weeks starting from the Labor Day weekend. Mid August is good for me too.

John,

No big excursions. Basically because of our new dog ("Baby-Dog") we are staying local and will kinda adventure around trying to act like clueless tourists. Plan on doing a lot of fashion shooting for Maggie's blog, meaning I'll slaving. We have plans on going out for brunch in different places, and even an exotic trip to Hoboken.

Our dog, an eight year old rescue that was first abused and then neglected, is a major head case. Basically a scared dog that is anti-social that kinda acts aggressive whenever he gets scared. As far as neighborhoods go you probably couldn't get a worse neighborhood as far as street noise, lots of dogs, and other things that seem to annoy my poor beast. He is getting a lot better, but then again there are some regressions.

Seems like I have my own distractions. Just when I am going broke printing on a Epson 3880, along comes a Epson 7800 (24 inch wide) for almost free. I'll be picking it up this Friday, and now I have to map out all the 7-11's that I have to rob to buy the paper and ink to feed an even bigger printer. Only weighs 135 pounds. LOL.

Been thinking a lot about quiting my job soon and retiring at age 60. Pretty much obsessed with the idea, and I want to do at least one more crazy thing while I'm still young: I want to try and make a go of being an artist without a day-job even if it might not be sustainable.

I am really glad that I bought all the gear I will need as far as cameras and lenses. In that reguard I'm good to go, but eventually I will be setting up to print for exhibition and will also have a darkroom. Pretty much a regression back to the days when I was in art school. Now I have about three years to get ready.

I vote 23rd. 9th feels too soon

Pro-Mone,

The 23rd it tis.

I think I will bring out my Texas Leicas because they are kinda crazy. I did some research on the EBAY-Store in Japan where I bought my 100/3.5 AE. Basically the store sells a lot of video games and collectable dolls, so it is looking good that although they sell a few cameras that the judgement that the metering was not fully functional seems more and more like a mistake, and that is perhaps why I got a rare lens in like new condition for no money.

Been shooting a lot of color which is kinda brand new for me. Been shooting mucho film, been printing a lot, and eventually I'll be printing exhibition size (20x30).

Pramodh, how's that OM system working for you? bring some photos -- I hope to make it on the 23rd.

The 23rd would be great I put in for vacation that week, so I'll see you guys
then, otherwise just taking photos going back and forth to work, and almost
got trampled tonight at Grand Central Terminal, the protestor's are back

Gear Alert #2

Decided to sell my Voightlander 25mm F4 lens with finder, thought I would mention it here first.

Having a lot of fun with the OM. I've even been thinking about expanding it, but for now enjoy using the 50mm. I'll try to bring some images, although i've been using the OM to almost exclusively shoot my girlfriend :D.

BIG NEWS: I secured an Epson 7800 24 inch printer for $100.00 that has only made 1802 prints over it's 9 years. This seldom used printer currently has an empty ink cart, and until I get a replacement no further testing can be performed. I just ordered a gallon of Piezoflush and a set of refillable carts to complete some testing, flush out the printer, and prepare it for storage until I get the dough for buying inks and now rolls of paper.

The maintenance diagnostics suggests that all the motors and pumps are almost factory fresh except the cleaning pump which indicates minor use, otherwise everything is kinda like new.

The 7800 and 7880 are the two most durable Epson 24 inch printers that are known to have long print head life. I luckily found a 428 page service manual that I already downloaded and made a hard copy.

Pretty much this 131 pound printer is a "Monster" in the Calzone tradition. Makes my Epson 3880 look small and cheesy. Now I can print for exhibition (20x30 on 24x36).

Many thanks to Chris and Christian with hooking me up with Mike (the previous owner), and mucho thanks to Joe who kindly offered me help in transporting my new monster with his car. I can't tell you how happy I am because somehow a dream came true...

BTW Maggie did not like seeing the size of this printer. LOL. About the size of one of her loaded clothes racks.

Congrats, Cal. The 7800 can be your ticket for retirement -- running a printing business out from it in addition to your artistic endeavors.

oh, so she snagged you after all. so much for that dodging all these years:D

Well it has dual metering in the camera, it just averaged the exposure using the
dual cds cells in the viewfinder but! when the mirror went up a dual pair
of Silicon Blue cells would read the first shutter curtain or at times with a
long exposure both the first curtain and the film itself which would able
to give exposure I think was 2 minutes but I could be wrong with that it
might be 1 minute. Take that digital camera's
