So now that the February Meet-Up happened it is time for the March Meet-Up.
It seems like this year already is rushing by. Keep in mind in April and/or May some possible bus trips to Philly for shooting.

Fidel,
Slum no more. Really the Bowelry was a really bad skid row in the 70's. Also what is known as Soho was an empty unpopulated area where one could rent a 2,000 square foot loft with no bathroom or kitchen for $200.00 a month. Of course living in a commercial space was illegal.
Ghetto would be a better term than slum because of the concentration of rich people.
In the late 70's I was building out lofts towards the end of when artists were moving in and redeveloping the last of Soho on Grand and Broome Streets.

true. Living the good life now..
Although feels a little weird when ppl say good morning without " can I have a dollar" following it. Gonna take me a bit to get used to being "nice"...
Still from Newark at heart.

I remember visiting my friend Artie's uncle who was retired and living in the Bowelry. Artie's uncle had a studio and in the middle of the tiny room was a claw foot bath tub, and the toy-let was placed in what use to be a closet. When I went to pee, I asked, "Where is the light?" and I was told, "There is none."
The space was too small for three people, so we go into a bar in the Bowelry and somehow I end up getting inbetween Artie's uncle and this guy named "Trippy" who attacks Artie's uncle who was likely in his 70's at the time.
So I learned after getting punched by two men fighting that I should never try to break up a fight, especially alone, and when fighting or getting involved in a fight win and win decisively by destroying your opponent by ending any fight as quickly as one can.
It was not that I was not good at fighting, but it was really odd because the fight that initially started was between perhaps a twenty year old (Trippy) and a seventy year old man. I was only 19 at that time and perhaps 130 pounds so I kinda looked like a drug addict.
Anyways just another normal day in the Bowelry back in the day. That was when only really destitute people lived in the Bowelry.

The world is not that big: I ran into John on York Avenue on my way to work near 76th Street this morning. I had my SL with that Big Bertha 24mm-90mm lens.
Although a hefty and big rig the use of a Nikon AH-4 baseplate allows me to carry the SL hung band-O-Lear style vertically like a M5 so the camera does not beat me with every step I take.
I am finding the camera too heavy to handstrap, and as is my right hand is feeling like a lobster claw already.
Had to run because I was late as usual. LOL.
