New York NYC September 2012 Meet-up?

by the way where are you guys located?? I live in west village , i dont wanna give my apt number out just yet but lol I live right by lomography. Not that i am a hipster or anything i fkin hate em , they think they are so different with their tight jeans when they all look the same , it's a paradox state for the conformist

I'm kinda out of place where I live ( a Chinese guy in Spanish Harlem).

Anyways I'm too old to be hip. I'm just a leftover hippy who generally only gets a haircut once a year.

Hey guys, thanks for all your kind words. I'm looking forward to some super nerdyness on Sunday.

Kind of fell in love with my M3 but only have a 35mm lens. I think I'd enjoy shooting a good 50mm on my M3 more than the 35mm f/2.8 M39 Summaron even hough it's a superb lens.

I'am in as well. haven't done a lot of shooting in the past few days so itching to get going again.

In as in having a 50mm for my 35mm? Haha. I gotta find somebody with a new 50mm f/2.8 Elmar-M or old collapsible Summicron in M mount. One day...one day...

I had the latest 50 Elmar. Its a nice lens, but I ended up keeping the 50/3.5 Nickel Heliar and 50/2.0 Nickel Heliar. Anyways now I have none of those lenses. LOL.

Hrmmm those Nickels are cute! Not having those lenses anymore is such a tease. Do you miss any of them? I bet they miss you! Lenses have souls you know...

I have a 1938 black paint Leica II (Model D). My only screw mount lens is a 35/1.8 Nikkor. It has chrome knobs.

The Nickel Heliars are a perfect blend of old and new. They are somewhat like a Tessar in performance and signature, but with modern coatings they don't flare. Contrast is kinda medium.

I traded away 1935 black paint Leica III (Model F) that was all brassed out. It also featured nickel knobs that were also brassed out. The two Nickel Heliars were part of that kit.

Anyways it seemed like I was day trading Leica screw mounts because I bought so many in such a short period of time, traded and sold them, and even bought one back (the Leica II).

For those interested: Sunday is the annual "Atlantic Antic". A huge festival held on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn. It stretches from the BQE to Flatbush Ave.
A great photo opportunity - cultural events, stages, food festival etc. Anyone interested in leaving the meetup let's say around 3:30 and heading to Brooklyn? Quick ride from the Broadway Lafayette station across from Puck Fair to Atlantic Avenue. Thought I'd mention it as I know we like to sometimes do some street shooting after the meetup.

Jeff,

It looks like the weather will cooperate and 3:30 seems like a good time to break out into a shoot-out.

Any follow through to garner more interest? Details?

Good thing......... I know how we love taking our Leica's out in the rain ;-)

I'm down with 3:30. I should have sufficient booze in me to allow me to get into street photography mode. lol.

I'm hedged, and will be shooting a Nikon F3P with Noct-Nikkor and moror drive. I love the motorized film rewind because you know me: I'm a lazy slacker. LOL.

UPDATE: I received notification that after 3 weeks of waiting since I placed a deposit on a M9M that I have moved from number 16 on the list to number 15. Evidently I won't be an early adopter. Really unsure of when I might get my new Monochrome at this point. Seems that the M9M is in short supply and demand is high.

Apple has a zero APR offer for a new computer...

Already learning about making digital negatives for contact printing.

Anyways: Oh-well.

i heard of the meet up thanks to denizg and jsrockit

i'll try and make it. i'm also in Harlem, but tomorrow my friend will be visiting (so i can't make the LIC)

and Sunday i'll be spending time with the gf and from friends. If Sunday doesn't go all day, how long does the meet up plan to last? I can try and make it hopefully in the mid to tail end.

looking forward to it!

The timing is this: 1:00 PM begin Meet-Up and generally it goes to about 5:00 PM, but this Sunday there is a shooting opportunity so I imagine a group of us will head out at 3:30 PM to go shoot in Brooklyn.

Cal

Also note that if anyone is considering shooting in LIC Saturday with me that I have a new policy where I wait for no one. The time is 10:00 AM when I'll be leaving the Court Square Dinner. Be early or you are on your own.

Shame indeed! :)

It was a distinguished pleasure meeting you fellows for the first time. Looking forward to the next meetup.

Cheers,
Jeremy

Come to another one. Pretty much have had monthly meet-ups for the nearly 4 years. I think this November will be 4 years. This February will be the 4th annual camera beauty pagent.

Don't be a snob. LOL.

Cal

BEAUTY PAGENT?! Any photos of the winners from the last three years?
