What about the total sad shape of all types of journalism? That's a better question

Or the sad state of people's perceptions of journalism.

Journalism is dead.
That would be a profoundly frightening situation. If it were true

Journalism is dead.
Much of it's editorial writing or fiction. Photojournalism has been in a death spiral for some time.
Just look at the recent polls which show citizens trust in the media is at an all-time low.

If you read the linked article , you will see it is precisely about that!

Many professions have been degraded over the last decade or two thanks to the bottom line mentality that values only maximizing profit as opposed to high quality and making a reasonable profit. Technology has facilitated the decline.

Chicago Sun Time fired all photographers a decade ago. So have other papers.
Chicago Tribune had two people stationed in a local gas station with the pretest of signing up for free gas. Then they pushed for "where do you get you Sunday paper"
I told them I have not bought one for 25 years. Reason is the paper fails to report news or they slant the story in some political manner. Often when a story gets so big they have to publish it and it is 4 days late.
Today we have fake news, totally made up. Called propaganda .
Journalists do not come close to doing their work properly because of bias or short staff or directions from the boss. The left wing has been buying up papers for 50 years now in an attempt to control the news and gain control over the citizens.
They now have 95% of the papers and then twitter and internet happened and are they upset. Media can no longer control the news. Next move was to give away control of the internet to some foreign body. WHY??
The coming step next is Saul Alinski tactics and thousands of fools are being trained to demonstrate and disrupt . Wait unit the weather warms some. They are professional and effective demonstrators. Ferguson and Berkley are starter samples.
Interesting to similarity of tactics used in Germany early 1930`s. That did not end well. A few saw it coming, most did not. I hope you know we have 800 FEMA camps (prisons) already built waiting. There are tens of thousands of caskets bought and stored. I know military people who are trained to operate guillotines.
The government has purchased hundreds of multi level "box "cars equipped with shackles for people.
And then the assault on guns because we can not be controlled if we are armed.
No jobs, government health care, income all in one class, and they have you to do do as they wish.
I am as far from radical as you can get, but I am trained to look at facts and history. I wish us well.

And ditto yours.
You would think I mentioned guillotines. I thought Philly was more droll.

I think you forgot to take off your tin foil hat.
I got this article this morning and found that it sounded similar to stories that I have heard from some of my friends who work for the NYT. It's sad that *most* photojournalism is circling the drain but at least there's still a few places that still look for quality work in their photo segments.
