Impossible's blog has posted a news item about a NYT article about their new 8x10 instant film. Some nice images.

The first test batch of the Impossible Project’s new 8-by-10 Polaroid film will be on display at the Impossible Project Space from Aug. 23 through Sept. 24. There will be an opening reception on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Cool. Thanks for posting that.

But I really wish Impossible would work on improving their instant film emulsions before embarking on major new product lines like this. The contrast and sharpness of their films needs to be dramatically improved, the excessive light sensitivity immediately after exposure needs to be reduced, and the emulsion and developing defects need to be cured before they can truly replace Polaroid film or compete with Fuji.

I dunno. It's like Hipstamatic with film. It seems as if people who engage in alternative processes (including Holga users) often rely on the "special effect" to carry the image. Composition and subject should still matter. I mean, come on, a pineapple dead center in a frame is art?

I'll be going to the show tonight.

Two Sundays ago I had my portrait shot with this new 8X10 film by one of 40 Beta testers that had early access to this film in a studio.

At $20.00- $30.00 a shot I don't think its so "Hipstermatic." In the least this will exclude poor hipsters. Also Hipsters are not known to shoot 8x10.

If this thread goes down to flames, it's all because of this guy.;)
