NYT: The Lam Family of Ludlow St.

Or how the family felt about the photographer being there again after 5 years...

About a decade and a half ago I did a lot of performance art that dealt with my Asian identity. I performed at The Joseph Papp Public Theater, Second Stage Theater, The Puffin Room and numeroius colleges and universities thoughout the northeast. I did this for three years, and my life was centered around being a performance artist.

I imagine the Lams felt like I did back then: somewhat impowered and not invisible anymore. If the first experience was not rewarding, I doubt there would have been a second opportunity for the photographer.
