i attacked no one - i stated a concern.

hmm, what is this DLSR forum that everyone seems to be talking about?
It's *not* one of the sub-forums here, I gather that much, but where is it?

joe and rover, will it be ok if i post in the P&S section instead? I posted there once and it got sent to the Oly section which is why i posted it here instead. It is after all a P&S just like the GRD......

I can understand this entirely, given the forum this is, but I can also understand where this digicam shots trend is coming from.back alley said:i hope we don't get too used to seeing digital non rf camera talk here.
not to be a grumpy old fart but this trend disturbs me.
topics lately stray way off the rf path.
i have a great digital point and shoot panasonic and post pics from it on flickr so i am not anti digital.
but i am anti non rf here at rff.

Like many here, I can not afford or justify a proper digital RF, be it an M8 or a RD1s. But that doesn't stop me from wanting a digital camera that handles like an RF, and that gives images that have the same signature.. but preferably at a price point that's more reasonable than the 2000 dollar/euro the RD1s commands. No such camera has surfaced yet.
For me, the fascination with these digicams pictures is to see the results getting more and more convincing, but not quite 'being there'. I can imagine that a lot of folk are in the same boat..

Not if we can help it
If you consider the amount of ego-driven venoms that are running the DSLR forums out there (be it pnet or that horrible "camera-brand"-info.com forums), we need to introduce and foster the good-natured threads (RFF-style) into the SLR world.
It's eerie to be in the forum that looks just like RFF, the user's avatars are exactly the same, but yet talking about something that is familiar yet entirely different.
Come on fellow Oly nuts, let's talk some OM or E -series goodness over there!
