shutterblade, out of virginia, has finally made good and my user om2n has finally been delivered.

(some may remember the story from the 'scams' thread)

anyway, the camera is finally here, it looks like a good user. i had to supply batteries to the empty well to fire it up. it seems to hit all the shutter speeds ok, the ae and the manual works as does the battery check light.
my new 100/2.8 went on w/o a problem and it focuses ok too.

i'm pleased with the camera but certainly not the shoddy service that shutterblade provided.

ok, my om kit is complete. i have decided on the 28/100/180 combo for now.
i might keep the 35 and the om1 as well but i'm still thinking about that.
the 2 short zooms will go, if they sell, and the 50 macro i'm gonna keep in case i ever get interested in macro.

I understand that you have rangefinder lenses to cover the focal lengths in between but do you plan on carrying both the OM kit and ZI kit when you shoot?
 
Look closely within all areas of the viewfinder and be sure you don't have any of the dread mirror separation caused by dissolving foam between the top shell and pentaprism.. if that's ok you can breathe a sigh of relief..

Even if he doesn't have foam rot , unless CLA'd, it would be wise to have the foam eliminated.
 
Hey Joe you think I should grab one of those OM 2 I told you about with the winder? What do I need to look for with the OM-2?
 
Congrats on getting your om back Joe. Can you post some test pictures with the 100mm when you get a chance. I'm also waiting for my OM2n and OM1 to come back from the OM Doktor in Germany, and I'm considering getting the 100mm to celebrate their return. Any nice examples taken with this lens will prove useful (in convincing her indoors that I NEED one).

I have an OM1 with the foam problem. I really fear it occuring with my new (old) OM2. Is it a timebomb waiting to happen?

If so. Has anyone successfully taken the top off an OM and removed the foam in a 'pre-emptive strike'?

I really need to get my OM1n and OM2n to John for overhaul...

It's funny. I always used to prefer the OM1 series, but now I really like using my OM2n in auto when street shooting. I'm trying not to read too much into this because the end result may be getting an M7!

I grew up with my OM1 but since I have got a OM2 (something I desired all my teenage years) I use it exclusively in auto. Then again I do the same with my R3A. Set the aperture, quick check of speed while I compose and click. Perfect for street.
