OK, so it wasn't an RF, but in one of the crowd shots I saw a young man clearly advancing the film on his SLR. Couldn't make out what kind it was, but it was black and silver, and quite definitely film. Icing on the cake, don't you think?

Ha! I thought for sure I was the only one who noticed. Of course, who could be blamed for missing that on such a night. I thought it was neat how, even though you could tell it was a film camera just by looking, they happened to show him right as he was advancing the film, so as to leave no doubt. Of course ,had I been there, I would have had to bring an SLR as well, so I could use the wide angle lenses on the crowd and the super long lenses (my longest is 300mm plus a 2x teleconverter) to get closer to president elect Obama.

Yeah, I saw him too. By the look of the pentaprism, I would surmise a Pentax Spotmatic.

he was probably a republican

Is this supposed to be a diss or are you trying to imply that he is "conservative" and unwilling to progress to today's technologies?

I find more liberal youngsters are film users ;) I should know, I am one!

Sure... that's close enough to being as good of an explanation as any. I was really just trying to make conversation.

As you get older, you'll likely get more conservative (statistically I think this might be an accurate statement.) That, however, probably won't really affect your choice of camera equipment. I'm glad to hear that a young liberal is using "old conservative" equipment, but I'm not convinced that there really is much of a corellation between liberal/conservative and digital/film.

I know a lot of old conservatives who are avid digital photographers. :)
