New York October Meet Up Date?

I think it's the same day as photo expo on Saturday Nov 1st, but that's
the end/beginning of the October, November. but it could be earlier.

The meet-ups on the same day as the Expo don't work very well since most go to the expo on Saturday and we spend hours there.

How about October 26th?

GEAR ALERT: I just got back my black paint MP with 0.85 VF'er from Sherry. Had the camera overhauled and the 75mm frames striped out. What a hot camera, especially with the black paint 35 Cron ASPH.

Climbing back on my Herman Miller computer chair...

The MP is more refined than my old Wetzlar M6 that I tried to upgrade and modify into a MP class M-body. Even though it just got overhauled and hasn't settled in yet. The MP is a better camera in every way: smoother; quieter; and the shutter release is softer with less of a detent.

The brassing is very light considering the MP dates back to 2004 and now is a decade old. Looks killer with my new black paint 35 Cron ASPH. Without the 75mm frames and with the 0.85 VF'er this rig is ultimized for a 50, but I find the added magnification makes the focus faster when shooting a 35.

Saturday I walked to Sin City in the South Bronx to discover a sandwitch board advertising the "Itty Bitty Titty Contest" on October 12th. The grand prize is a boob job. You can't make this stuff up. LOL. Anyways took some shots with the rooftop neon sign that says "Topless Go-Go Girls."

Sunday's best shot was in Downtown Crooklyn. I engaged with a black man who wore this black t-shirt that said "Don't Shoot: I'm Black." He wore a hat, and I asked to do a street portrait. I took the shot with a 50 like I would with a 28 meaning a very tight torso shot from perhaps 7 feet. Took two shots and then took two of the back where there was a list of black men who were shot dead by police. In the first shot I took my subject had his mouth open because he was speaking, but it was as if he was saying, "Don't Shoot," as I shot him at point blank range with my 50. Unfortunately this is a timely image that seems to be a repeated and somehow is timeless.

That's awesome...

Yeah, well, it is a strip joint... :D

John,

Part of urban living. LOL.

When we first moved to LIC we had Thanksgiving dinner at the Court Square Dinner because we were in the process of moving in. From the window where we were sitting in the dinner "Maggie" made a comment that there was a convenient video store in our new rundown neighborhood, but I made the point that it was not the kind of video store that she imagined and that they featured triple-X and "Adult films." LOL.

Later I would learn from my next door neighbor that not long ago street walkers patroled right in front of our house.

I suggest the next NYC meeting be held at the Itty Bitty contest in the South Bronx on 10/12. Anyone second the motion?
