odd Tessar 8cm/3.5 on eBay

I have never heard of an 3.5/ 8cm Tessar in LTM. The aluminum barrel suggests either WW2 CZJ or more recent FSU manufacture. I am leaning toward the latter on this one. The ring surrounding the front lens element is way too pretty as compared to the well-used appearance of the barrel. Not interested in bidding on it, but am kinda perplexed. Any opinions?

The seller also has an aluminum barrel old-style CZJ 2.8/ 3.5 cm lens in LTM up for auction.

You're probably right that it was a custom or after-market modification of what was originally a medium format or 35mm lens for another mount (M42, etc.). Could have been done before WWI, during WWII, or afterwards in E. Germany, FSU, or elsewhere.

Maybe someone like Marc James Small @ the ZICG (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ZICG/) would know more.

The barrel is very strange, it reminds me strongly of J-9 look and of industar-50 material, kind of "cheap", maybe aluminium.
