I could not resist creating what Leica did not ... it's a circa 1969 , near mint Zenit 3m bought @£10.75 incl postage , locally , for spares - and recovered in brown leather effect wall covering - with stitching ! + Leica photocopy name plate !

Now I will have to get the lazy shutter fixed !!

You could have done the same with more ease with a Zenit E. It looks like the Leicaflex, and even has a similarly-placed selenium cell port in front of the prism. :)

It still is and remains a 'rebadged' Zenit without a meter. Leitz did not make a SLR in the first place because they had the Visoflex system which could be adapted to the rangefinder models. I have a Zenit 3M as well. You can apply thin oil to the edges of the shutter drums and gears with a thin needle. Be carfull not to spill oil on the shutter cloth, it makes the vulcanite swell. You do'nt have to disamble the camera for this.

When disambled the infinity setting of the mirror is very hard to set when putting the camera together again. Its a great flexible camera if you can get used to the flip up mirror. Although I haven't tested my own Zenit yet.
