Off Topic: Nikon SLR

Nikon F3HP: a specific question for anyone with direct experience.

I wear glasses. Tired of dealing with this with ALL my cameras.
Can't easily get my hands on an 'HP' locally. If you're in the
same boat and use an F3HP does it resolve the entire-frame
viewfinder visibility problem. A lot better or just good enough?

Hi,
I own among my SRL's a Nikon F (with the ZF planar!!!) and can't tell directly. According to Gandy the non HP F3 is a better camera and I would go for it, if it were the Nikon srl of my choice.
I wear glasses too. My solution is to buy a diopter for all cameras that don't have one incorporated. This drove me nuts but in the end after a few years of stubborn work (mostly on ebay) all my cameras finally have diopters. Quite Frankly for me to take a picture with the glasses is extremely unpleasant and inefficient and, besides, it scratch both the glasses and the camera.

I have two Nikon F3HP's and they resolve the eyeglass issue much better than my Nikon FA's, Olympus OM-1 and OM-2, Pentax Spotmatics, and a little bit better than my Canon F1. I can easily see the entire frame with my glasses on. (Plus what you see is what you get on film with the 100% viewfinder). Hopefully this will help you.

Another option is their Sports Finders big, but they work and I bet you could get a hood from a digital camera to fit pretty well.

I happen to have my F3HP right at hand here. I put on my glasses, and looked through the viewfinder, and I had no trouble seeing the entire frame.

I used to wear glasses back when I was a PJ, and it was one of the only reasons I finally switched from F2s to F3HPs. It does make a difference!

This is a little late, but I got an F3 with the DE-2 finder and I wear glasses sometimes and found it hard to see. I got a barely working F3 with the HP finder just to swap the finders and find it much better (geez, lot of finds in that last sentence). You can see the whole frame with your eye back from the viewfinder glass - about a nose's worth of distance. I am told I have a large nose. My F3 is my favorite SLR. Bought it here from rover as I recall.
