Officer Is Indicted on Charges of Lying About Photographer’s Arrest

A New York City police officer who had arrested a photographer working for The New York Times has been indicted on three felony counts and five misdemeanors accusing him of fabricating the reasons for the arrest, the Bronx district attorney announced on Monday.

Congratulations to the photographer and his attorney. Both are going to experience a mid to high six figure windfall. Perhaps low to mid seven figures, if the attorney is particularly resourceful 😀

I got bopped on the head with a nightstick in the hand of one of New York's Not Finest. The photo I took showed two cops using a ton of restraint trying to move a protester out of an area where he should not have been. The photo would make a great poster for the cops.
But there are a few of the 'boys in Blue' who get wild ideas when confronted with that mysterious soul-stealing-ray type of machine, the camera.

Unless you gave him a valid reason to do that - such as attacking him - it sounds like the cop could be charged with assault and battery, at minimum.

There are good officers and there are the bad apples, nice to see enforcing the enforcers. We have had our problems in the Houston area, they were not related to photography.
