Oh boy! A new ZM!

I once had a ZM and then sold it, because the digital Leicas became my main cameras and scanning the film just wasn't good enough and took too much time.

But somehow I really missed this beautifull camera. Then I bought a really good scanner for my medium format films, that also is pretty good and much faster for 35mm film. I scanned some old stuff from the Ikon and others and was very satisfied with the quality. Now there was no reason, not to shoot film again, and since I really love to shoot film with my GF670, I thought, I also really miss the ZM.

After searching some time, and finding many way too expensive ones in less than mint condition, I just found one, that looks nearly like new and had a reaonable price: done... I couldn't resist.

It not there, yet, but boy, am I excited...😀

Not the first time, I bought a Camera twice, but the ZM is really special. I even prefer it over film Leicas. I think, this time my analog to digital workflow is much better organized, and I'm really looking forward to take it to the streets.

Any other RFFlers here, that really miss their ZM or are so excited about it?

I'm deeply devoted to the ZI.
After several years' detour through the digital Leica land, I'm back recently, too. So much pleasure!

I've swung around in the opposite circle. I tried a Zeiss Ikon, found it good, but preferred the feel of the Leica M body so I went back. (Did a similar detour through the Contax G system...)

The Z is still a lovely camera, though, so enjoy the heck out of it!

Congrats. A wonderful camera. Mine has been by my side through the holidays. Right now it is sporting my C Sonnar 50/1.5. Lots of Fuji 800, Tri-X and Delta Pro 3200.

My ZI ZM is my only rf camera and paired with the Biogon 35/2 is my main camera.
This kit changed my attitude on taking pictures, and now I am more relaxed and enjoy more my taking pictures excursions.

I had 2 ZI's for a long time, when I was shooting a lot of B&W film; however, as I slowly migrated to shooting digital (at least 80% of the time now), I traded one of those ZI's for a DSLR. I'll probably never let go of the one I have left.

What I take from the OP post is more simply - what "scanner" did you eventually get that didn't work out first time round? You have arrived at the point that I am trying to get to. In that my cameras are always film and have never been interested in going digital - in spite of all their advantages. But a good scanner would be a better route for me.

For my cameras I waited, read, learned and then chose - so I never had to go the roundabout way of arriving... the Zeiss Ikon RF was one of those studied closely - but I went for the MP in the end.... 9 years on... still have the MP.
The ZI viewfinder and the viewfinder info is better, but I cheated a little and got a viewfinder magnifier the 1.25 version and this gives me 1.06 mag on my .85 MP.

When I was going through my archives the other day it was interesting to discover that I had shot more rolls of film with my Ikon when I had it than any other RF camera.

They really are a class camera and I kind of miss mine too.

I primarily use my Leica M cameras, but I have a Zeiss Ikon SW that I love-it is the modern version of a Leica Ig, and a Zeiss Ikon 21mm f4.5 Biogon lives on it.

I found the same. I bought the ZI a little over two years ago and I have shot almost twice as much film with it as I have with all of my Ms. I eventually sold my M7 and two M6s.

Of course the new M-A may change that.

Wow! I'd hold onto those Akiva. I haven't seen a candy cigarette in ages. They are probably collector's items now.

Luckily for me, the friendly RFFer I sold my (purchased new by me) ZI to last year agreed to sell it back to me for the original purchase price after a few months of ownership. The first thing I did when it came back was put a Griptac covering on it and take it shooting. Its the camera I took with me to Myanmar in November/December and its the camera I have with me now in Australia. I won't be selling again 🙂

I remember as a child you could buy several types of cigarette confectionary. There were ones that had the consistency of a peppermint with a fake glowing red tip and there was a type of chewing gum in the shape of a cigarette that actually had a rice paper covering and a fake filter ... these were so realistic I remember people actually trying to light them!

When you think about the implications of these things and the current drive against smoking you have to cringe a little! 😱

I Can relate to the OP, I am on my second ZI, this time a silver limited edition.
