Oh, Canada II contest

rico, we have a similar event here also, i was referring to the theft.

jan, those bastards! i hope they rot in hell. if there is any justice then there is a special place in hell for those who steal from those who work for and buy.

jan, i have a ricoh 500 that needs seals.
some friends found it at a garage sale. it looks new and the meter works, though i have not checked it for accuracy. the old seals have been removed already.
it even has a case and manual.

say the word and i'll put it in the mail. would be a good car camera.

Here are some from Old Fort William taken with an M4, 35 pre asp lux and 400 Fuji.

Frank, I've felt bad I haven't have anything to contribute so here's an offering from this morning. It was, alas, taken with digital (but with a Leica lens 🙂

Two power walkers ahead of me in the streaming morning sunlight.

Thank you all for your entries so far. There are still a few days to go!

Here is my own contribution to Canadian Summertime fun. Taken on Gull Lake in Haliburton with a C/V25mm lens on a Leica CL.

If the deadline has been extended, here is another shot

Yeah I am stuffing the contest but I love this photo, I took it with a Canon Canonet QL17 G111 with Fuji Superia Extra 400 asa, I think if memory serves me because I took this three weeks ago in Kensington Market at Casa Acoreana, I metered the outside and kept the interior in the shadow. I am guessing F11 at 125 or 250 maybe. While I shoot a lot of black and white, I love playing in colour as well and I get this total wow look with this roll of film I shot.

That sucks!

That sucks!

Hi Joe

yes I took 3 cameras, my Oly XA, your Oly RC, and a Nikonos III on a trip to Vancouver 3 weeks ago. The cameras and a lot of other stuff as well as exposed film were stolen from the trunk of the new Avis rental car I had leased.

Reported to the police, and Avis, I doubt anything will come of it except I'm out of pocket and I lost a lot of quality shots from Toronto summer events as well as 3 days of shots in Vancouver.

Rats! there I said it and I feel better.... not really.

jan
Sorry to hear about the theft, that really puts a damper on things. There is the Thornhill Camera Show, if you can make we can advise on what to get for your new equipment fleet. If I was going to Caribana, I would just take either the Canonet or a Pentax Spotmatic. Nothing I would really cry over if I lost it.

Bill

ok, a few shots from me too.

the first 3 are from the fringe theatre event aka 'the fringe'.
for some reason i seem to have focussed on snacking...

the fourth is a quiet morning side street just off whyte avenue. i must walk down that street about 20 times a month.

joe

Uncle Bill, two things

One; yep that is Kensington okay.

Two; Caribana, well my shots from that were in two of the cameras I lost. As we say in this multi-lingual country .. 'merde'

A participant has asked for a short extension in order to get some recent shots processed and submitted. Due to the limited number of submissions, this request has been granted and a winner will be declared by Sept.10.

Thank goodness for the extension -- I just developed this roll last night. Tri-X @ 1600, Rodinal 1:50 a la merciful partial stand development. Bessa R, 35mm Ultron

#1 - gathering at the pub (Duke of York, Toronto)
#2 - cheers! (Deirdre)
#3 - RFF Meeting (Kensington Market)
#4 - fisherman on the Credit River

2005 Summer Fun in Canada

hi gang it's been a busy but not productive summer. Still a great one in Toronto. Here's my 2 cents worth for the 'Summer Fun in Canada' thread started by Frank.

the first shot is of a coaster at the annual Canadian National Exhibition held in Toronto every year in August, the second is also at the CNE and shows a popular 'game of chance' and all the 'players'

Jan

for those interested in technical details, Yashica Electro 35 GSN using Fuji 400 print film shot on Auto with F's of 5.6 and 4.0; lab processed / images burned to a CD
