I made a small sale to one of our great Canadian forumers. He paid with a Canadian Postal Money Order. I took it to my bank today. I knew from previous experience that they would not deposit it into my account until they had "sent it for collection". In the past they charged one dollar. The new fee is now eight dollars. Ain't nobody gonna miss eight bucks, but it chaps me somewhat. I'd have rather given it to the forum partner. Is it just Arkansas banks that are doing this? Hell, we've been 49th for so long (thanks Mississippi) maybe we're trying to cath up all at once. Excuse my rant.

Next time ask the buyer to purchase a USD M.O. from his Canadian bank.

We just got reimbursed by some friends in Ottawa for some theater (or, if you prefer, theatre) tickets that we bought for them. They obtained a USD MO from RBC in Ottawa that is drawn on RBC's New York Branch. No additional charge for collection since it is a "domestic US draft". 😀

it's hard enough to buy from canada.

with a usps money order i either cash it or deposit it, no hassle.
our banks even keep american money on hand.

sorry for the hassle, maybe look into paypal.

If someone in the U.S. wants a money order, I usually get one from the bank in U.S. funds. Most of the Canadian banks have U.S. bank partners and the MO should be cashable without fee at that partner.

I'm with Bmattock on the annex, though they might scream and kick a bit. As to Paypal, I'm not too far removed from the use of the privy. Those damn geese made those early morning excursions exciting. They were kinda territorial. I'll still buy and sell to the Northern neighbors, though I've always wondered if they made the Greg Louganis diving board just a wee bit longer.

My neighbor (and good friend) is a Canuck, and he brings back all the good stuff when he travels to the frosty north. Looking forward to July 1st...

Let's annex the States! They're so busy, we'll just sneak in the back door and take over. One of our agents, Celine Dion is already taking over Vegas...
