^^^I bought these three 6x9cm Plaubel Makina film holders, and this Plaubel Makina Pop-Up Viewing Hood, for $12 on Ebay. I had a lot of fun restoring the Pop-Up Hood. I re-glued the fabric side pieces back down with Goodyear Pliobond, and cut plastic/paper strips on my Roto-Trimmer, which I glued in the inside, to stiffen up the action of the hood. You can see them inside the Pop-Up Hood in the digifoto. Finally, I bought a 5x7" Fresnel Magnifying Sheet for $2.25 on Ebay, and trimmed it to perfect size on the Roto-Trimmer, and installed it inside the hood. It all works a treat, the Plaubel Pop-Up Hood is as good as new, and a bonus is that it also fits my Plaubel Makiflexes, as well as the two Plaubel Makinas I own. Not at all bad for $12.50! I think I will apply some leather dye to the back and it will look like new and function much better than when it was new.

Here is the fresnel. This woill work great with any folding camera viewing hood. You can really see the groundglass image with this installed!

Ye Olde Mill, Utica, Ohio. "The Ice Cream Factory". Took my wife for Ice Cream. I like the precision framing on this one. The Makina viewfinder is QUITE accurate to use, even at the extreme edges. This is a handheld image.
Plaubel Makina IIIR, F4.2 Anticomar (the super-rare sharp lens!) Ilford FP4+ roll film, Legacy Pro Mic-X, Replenished.
Edges are not swirly like with the F2.9 Anticomar. Plaubel recommended this Makina lens for travel and reportage.
Roger Hicks, here is the F4.2 Anticomar!

"Old Bag of Nails" parking lot folk art.
Took my wife to lunch. Getting this photo was a bonus.
My first HANDHELD Plaubel Makiflex photo! I think a success.
Makiflex Automatic, 150mm F2.8 Schneider Xenotar wide-open, Ilford FP4+ roll film, Legacy Pro Mic-X Replenished.
Love this Xenotar!
Edit: We went back here yesterday, and this has been vandalized and ruined. What a shame!

Quick test image. Fuji GX680 125mm f5.6 lens hacked to Plaubel Makiflex. Iford FP4+ Microdol-X. Camera was against the curb on a tripod, busy rush hour traffic whizzing by the Makiflex. Had to wait a while to not get any cars in the frame.
Nice lens, different from my 120 Angulons. Glad I have it; I also have the 125mm GX F3.2 but have not tested it yet

Found this on the internet. I've since been told they are now sharing a space with an Auto dealership. Still, I am pleased to know they are still around!

From the Internet:
The stylish sophisticated reportage rig for the upscale Photojournalist: The Plaubel Makina!
Note: I am still looking for the Makina Flash Bracket. Notice how nicely it balances, even with a BIG flash. Perhaps a German Mecablitz?
Also, does anyone have the Accessory 73mm Wideangle Viewfinder Mask? I WANT ONE.

Here is my stash of ORWO 6x9cm cut film. Purchased last year from several different dealers in Bulgaria. It has been suggested to me to use Ilford Microphen. Since the film is outdated I will add two stops as a start. Results should be interesting. 6x9cm cut film is not easy to find.

And here is my stash of fresh film, ordered from several sources in Germany. Fresh 6x9cm Foma 100, and Adox CHS 100 II in 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" sheets. These will fit my Linhof holders, and fit my Makiflex camera back in that size.

I was inspired. Recently I found a nice set on the auction site, a IIs with a set of three lenses, roll film back, hood, and several filters and sheet holders. Serviced. Will put a roll in ASAP and have some fun with it.

Good Looking Makina. Best of Luck with it. Let us know how it goes.

Sadly, the sheet holders are useless. I'm looking at your earlier pictures of them, and mine seem to be missing an insert that would hold the film flat, as well as block the light on the right edge. Since I will be using the roll film back it isn't that big of an issue.

I've had to buy inserts for some of my holders. It is doable but there are many different kinds so you have to be really careful. Sometimes I would buy "other-brand" holders just to get the inserts!
6.5x9cm sheet film is not very cost effective compared to roll film, but is very different and fun to me.

I still have rolls of Makina and Makiflex photos that I need to develop. I am still in the process of filling my Jobo film tank. Each 120 reel will hold two 120 rolls of film. My biggest tank holds four reels, so that is eight rolls of exposed film per film run.

Yes, I probably wont sweat about the film holders. I am looking around for more roll film backs.
