it's the battery grip that dwarfs the camera, not the lens imho...
 
Looks very good... but still, m4/3. If someone could make something like this (or even a traditional DSLR) with dedicated shutter speed dials and lenses with aperture rings, while keeping a small size, it'll be a real hit.

I have to admit I'm going to be pretty tempted by this... with the panasonic 14mm and 20mm team it might just be the ultimate small camera setup. It looks about the same size (if not smaller) as an x100, and if they got the sensor IQ right (better than a G3), and if the EVF works well in all conditions, this is going to be a killer little camera.

I think I'm proud to say that with the addition of the om-d series, m4/3s has finally come to be a solid system for the serious photographer.
 
i would so love to replace my beloved (but somewhat AF crippled) E-P2 with this camera, but i've already decided that my next camera will be a full frame DSLR.... grrrr.

still..... maybe this camera's little sister will replace my E-P2 in the future. or maybe i'll somehow change my mind about the DSLR....

I have been known to keep pebbles at the ready. 😀

As for art filters, one does not have to use them. I pooh-poohed them when they were first introduced, but I have some friends who have used them well. I also have friends who wouldn't touch them, but manipulate like hell in PS. Yeah, I know there's a difference, but philosophically, not much.

Pretty much having a conversation with myself here, but possibly that middle 'section' between the grip and the (what seems to be the) camera body is a spacer - which would make the camera nicer to hold with larger lenses - like 4/3 lenses for instance... in which case the 2 lock dials would make sense..

Any other ideas?
 
a nice looking machine. hopefully it has the same reputation for toughness as the e-3/e-5 cameras .

any chance to lighten my load and i am interested!
 
weather sealed is a good start. light and responsive is another. after that... call me game.

all the full frame, high iso, M4/3 business is not very important in my world.
 
Looks lovely!

Don't knock the art filters if you haven't tried them, by the way--they are a lot of fun, and Oly implements them well. It's sort of like deciding to shoot a roll of weird film.
 
looks good, but I don't see how it differs from another medium sized sensor camera with an evf... the higher top area that in slrs is needed to make room for the prism is not needed for an evf - look at the x100 & xpro1 - and it's making the om-d bigger. if it's the same mount as the other OMs then it could be interesting for OM owners to use their lenses without an adapter, but so far i'm not getting the "reason to be" of this camera... yep, it looks nice, but it's not bringing anything new (despite weathersealing maybe).

I would guess the upper lock dial is for the hand grip, the lower one for the vertical grip?
 
Maybe the designers thought that one turny-locky thing was good, but two was better!

Must be the horizontal and vertical grips...interesting take on modularity.

Doesn't look bad. I need to see more real world photos...these look computer generated, even if they are not. The finish looks better than I imagined, not all shiny. I'm pleased to see a somewhat return of the E series finish and design.

Aesthetically, my first reaction is that the thing is a little too sharp around the edges. But I'm a picky design guy. Looks like a serious camera.
