Just thought that i'd share some happy news.


I was chancing along the sidewalk on the way to school, and came across a nice garage sale.

going through the old 8tracks and LPs, i came across a familiar looking box. Though faded and hardly visible, the box had a torn picture of a camera with the words fuji on it.

I opened it and saw an almost minty GSW690III with all its original packings... WOO!!!!!

However, the owner kinda knew the asking price for this gem of a camera, and ended up haggling with me. In teh end, i'm now 680$ poorer with one more fuji RF sitting on my collection of the existing 2. (GA645, GS645).

Though the camera looks mint, does anyone know what are the usual things to check for this camera apart from the speeds and externalities? I'm worried about the RF and its alignment, together with anything else that might be wrong. =(

vertical alignment can be tested easily - obviously - the horizontal can be tested with a measuring tape. Carry one with you when you think you might come across a used RF that might need buying.

Very little could go wrong with these cameras. The RF is rather tolerant to shocks and it is quite difficult to knock it out of alignment, compared to a Mamiya 7 or a VC Bessa... Just check the shutter and the film winding mechanism and you should be OK.

Thousand good catch!
I bought one new an paid about three times as much (in Europe). I use it at times and like it. The problem I have is not with the camera but with scanning the negs (take a look at the thread on film holders). It is hard to squeeze from the camera all its potential and the hedge on 35mm (serious 35mm) is not as large as they say.
An important advice that I don't see in the other posting. The bottom of the camera has a shutter actuation counter. The number it shows has to be multiplied by 10. According to Fuji the shutter need overhauling somewhere beyond 5000 firings.
