i could not resist the call of another think tank bag...
after reading about the new line of bags...the city walkers...i ended up at the local pro shop and they had 2 in stock...a triumph over the internet website that said 'none in stock'!
very nice bag, lightweight messenger style with a removable padded insert.
the insert makes it look fat and wide and therefore it sits away from the body more than i want...so i removed it and am using 2 much smaller, lighter inserts (from domke) i think. much better.
will take it out tomorrow for a trial run...it can hold all my gear or just a camera and 2 lenses...also an ipad or laptop...my mini fits nicely in several places.

Hi Joe,
Which CW did you get, 10, 20, or 30 ?
I'm guessing the 10![]()
yes, the 10...anything bigger is overkill for me.

Have we had an full review of your new bag Joe? Does it work well for RF users as it looks kinda big in comparison to the small Domkes?

i have not done a review, no.
what i have done to the bag tho...i took the included insert and cut out the bottom of it...i then cut the bottom piece to make it smaller but still usable for protection. what did this do?
well the bag w/o the insert is a perfect size but with the insert, it is bloated and keeps the bag from fully moulding against my side...with the bottom cut out i still have plenty of protection and it fits much closer to my side. i prefer using the insert with dividers to separate the gear.
i like the material better than the retro bags only because the bag can now glide from front to bag with a much easier tug.
it holds both my fuji bodies with lenses attached and now my 3rd lens as well...along with the tiny fuji flash, about 5 batteries and my ipad mini (it will hold a regular ipad as well)
think tank bags have nice long straps so the bag sits exactly where i want it to...the shoulder pad works nicely as well.
i went with the model 10, the smallest, as i do not like big bags at all...i only carry camera gear in it so no need for room for water bottles, sweaters or an encyclopaedia...
questions?

i did cut the insert!
the very bottom out of it.
then made the bottom part smaller and put it in the bag and then the rest of the insert was put in.
with the bottom intact the insert was too stiff and made the bag fat...with the bottom cut out the sides now bend in easily and form to the body.

The "voyage" is a masterpiece. one of my two or three bests.
Did you read it in french?
Celine himself was a very complex and disturbed man

My apology to take this thread as far from its original topic as can be.

bag gas is just the worst thing I've EVER experienced... just when I've found the best big bag (wotancraft ranger) for the whole gear I thought "oh how about a smaller thing for everyday and a medium one for day trips...:bang::bang:
now that city walker 10 in black is in the dining room waiting to be compared vs the leica billingham combination bag and a bare bones bag evolution is on order
I've seriously given up convincing myself that stopping myself from trying (or later buying) is a good thing
haven't stuffed everything in until the other bags arrive. but from the look and feel it's definitely superior to the retrospec 5 I owned (and sold)

the citywalker 10 is closer to the retro 7 than a retro 5...

I was referring to the feel, not the size. I like the material and the functionality better.
2 pockets on the sides, outside, capable of holding 2 water bottles (e.g. on a city trip with my girl) or a water bottle and a small umbrella...
the pocket in the flap for flight tickets or similar
I think that the city walker series is kind of an upgrade to the retrospectives. wouldnt surprise me if more sizes would follow

Both look good when looking at the Think Tank site. Do you have a favorite yet?
I need a new bag, and cannot currently get both....
I think the retro 7 looks better in the photos, but how do they feel when carrying them?
