Oh yes, I got my Yashica Electro G!!

I got this beautiful, gorgeous black body from Dave, Mr. Greyhound on Monday, and it arrived today! I'm just a tad sick otherwise I would have rushed out and gotten the battery for it (it came with the battery adapter!!!)

I thank/blame/thank you all for this contagious GAS. I can't wait to shoot some Tri-X or FP4+ and soup it in Diafine, and of course a roll of Ektachrome too.

Found a PDF of a manual online too, but so far I have been unsuccessful in finding out what filter size this camera's lens takes (granted, it hasn't been too long since I've started).

Hey G, thanks! That's super then, as luck would have it, I have two spare B+W MRC 55mm UV filters. Ex-cellent!

I just don't know why the Leica M4-2 up through the M7 don't have the contrasty viewfinder. The M2 and M3 have a very fine and reputed viewfinder.

I see that the Yashica has a rounded diamond-style viewfinder, with the yellow/blue principle of the early M Leicas, also just like the Canon 7/7s do. This Yashica has very bright and thick composition framelines.

Again, I haven't gotten a battery for my camera yet, but it seems that the shutter is ultra quiet, for it's the diaphragm that works as the shutter (it's a Copal shutter), very much a la Hasselblad C lens.

I think you get just too much for your money's worth...

OK, I found four spare fresh LR44 batteries which were my spare ones for the now sold prism for my Hasselblad.

This may be very old news to many of you, but I am still very surprised at how quiet this camera is, and how easy it is to focus in dim-lit conditions.

If you were me, what kind of film would you burn first? C41? B&W? Chrome? I can't decide. I'm hoping I can recover in time for the weekend so I can go out and shoot. I have been planning on going to the State Fair, to take pictures of the "wildlife" 😉 , but I think I'm going to bring this along too.

I'll write that down. Thanks. Yes, the batteries better last me a while, but I always like to carry a spare. I was once dead in the water, learned big time (which is why I really like mechanical cameras over electronic ones, generally).

So I took my Yashica Electro GT for a spin last night, and boy is it easy to focus in dim lit conditions! It's easier than my M6, and just as good as the M2.

Will take it for another spin today. I was just wondering whether I need to compensate the meter if I'm using LR44 batteries?

So the extra 0.7v are being "ignored", wasted, or simply not used?
