I've been toying with the idea of getting a metered M body, and I'm currently trying to persuade a guy I know to sell me his M5 with lens. I haven't seen the camera yet, and it supposedly has a defect shutter (curtains are stuck or something). It was his father's, who passed away some time ago, and the guy knows it's valuable, but says it has a defect...
I could probably get this camera and lens (I don't even know which lens it has!) for a relatively good price - a lot less than the going rate for an M5 body alone is in Europe.
However, if that fails, I'll probably be looking for an M6 with .85 finder, or, failing that, maybe with .72 finder. Either Classic or TTL, as long as everything is working fine.

So, in order not to compete with other guys here, let's coordinate our efforts. :)

I know Rover is looking for an M6 TTL, Frank is apparently also looking at Jorge's M6, so is there anyone else? :D

So, Rover and Frank, if there are any cameras you find and which you are about to pass, let me know about it, maybe I would be interested...

Just maybe... :D

It's a lot of dough to send overseas... :(

I'm in. I'm hunting for a M6 TTL 0.72 chrome late production and mint. But I think I found one (not telling where!)

Tom

Tom, not fair, I get the first one!!!!

I will forward a email to you Denis. Nice M6 TTL, black .72 in Norway.

Me, chrome, .72 just what Tom has found.

Ralph, $1500 is above what I'm expecting to pay, if I got the price for that one from Norway right :(
There's another (earlier M6 classic) I found for $940. Has had minor repair done on rewind crank (some spring washer or something).
Don't need the packaging, box, manual, or other stuff. Just the camera.
Should be about $300-$400 less if it comes without all the extra stuff :D
I'm looking for something in $1,000-$1,200 range...

Rover, worry not. If I find two, I'll let you know!

But I'm of a different mind I guess. I don't plan on selling this camera, ever (I know, we will see...) so I'm ok spending a little more to get exactly what I want, cry once, and start taking pictures.

Tom

Like I said, I'm looking around. If an M3 comes up for a good price I'll go for that, if Jorge doesn't need too much for his M6, then I'll go for that. I like to leave myself open to the serendipity of life.

This one's been sitting on *bay (Item #3872831055) for the week that i've been watching. No bids yet...just watching it to prolong my second guessing buyer's anxiety.

Seller has zero feedback. Don't be too anxious, let someone else take the chance for that much money.

Had to laugh...just searching for something in some old threads and found this:

"I have won the war against Leica Lust"

- Rover, 19 September 2004

:)

at least he added "(for now)"

My son is currently in love with the Star Wars movies. I am getting my fill of them right now.

Yeah, tell me about it :)
My boys are 3,5 and 5 years old, and recently we had to disconnect the VCR and tell them it's broke - they've been watching Star Wars waaay too much. I mean, I like the movies, but too much is too much. :)

Oh, yes, and the Batman was also a favorite. Now they watch cartoons.
