back alley,
I tell you already that you are not done, because I am now going out for my lunch break with the nice little R4A AND the 21/4.5 C Biogon attached. This is an irresistable combination for architectural shots, start saving the money...;-)

I like the black of the R4a, but have never seen an R4m.
21mm frameline is fine. It is at the edge, but I can manage with my glasses on, better than the 40mm frameline in the R3a. The larger hood, the box hoods (LH-1 I think) for the Skopars are too big though, they block too much of the finder.

The problem is that you do not collect £200 when you pass GO

I'm done feeling guilty. As far as I'm concerned, part of the fun I have with this photography lark is mucking around with different equipment. And yes, I DO take pictures.

I've got an R4A with the matt black finish, and I don't like it (the matt finish - I love the camera). It always seems to look greasy and shiny - like a cheap suit.Which black something something is nicer? Anyone know how the 21 framelines is? To big or can you work with them?
I think the 21mm frame is superb - my CV 21/4 is almost permanently attached to the camera.

Congrats on your purchase. When you'll be selling it at a great price - remember i asked first.![]()
i'll keep you in mind pherdi but i doubt i will sell this set. the r4 is a truly great camera and i like the idea of the mechanical m as a second camera with the r4a as main. and it all fits so nicely in my camera bag

I was done as well and then monday I was in my favorite camera store and I just happened to glance down into the display case and there was a mint Tachihara Wood-Field 4x5 with my name on it.
Of course I now need lenses, lensboards, filmholders, tri-pod, head, darkcloth...
Done? hahahahahahah

Or how about "unbirthday"present. As the Mad Hatter notes, each of us has 364 unbirthdays every single year. Might as well celelbrate them!

Oh, I was actually answering Kim's question about how to justify his own purchase. You, my friend, are on solid ground! And happy birthday, by the way. I was away from the computer the other day and missed out on the chance to send you best wishes.

done-ness is over-rated. Joe, happy B-day, and enjoy the new camera!

This is not good at all. Now I have to remove any GAS thoughts from my troubled mind. Can you live without a Bessa 4? I wonder.

Good for you Joe. I agree that being done is highly over rated.
Bessa prices in Japan were on par with cq except for the R4M, but now I see that is same as it would be in Japan (except for CA sales tax and shipping cost) because I saw a new R4M kit for 77,000 yen which is about $670. I did not go for it.
And a belated Happy Birthday. This is a great place and you are a reason why. Enjoy the new camera and please provide feedback, as I am thinking of an R4M for my birthday in December.
