It's here............!!!!
Brand new R4, new strap in display box, and a like-new eveready leather case! This is pure tactile pleasure! Not the seductress that is the M3...but pure engineering pleasure.
Now if I only had a lens.

Congratulation Dave!!!
Now you need a lens, eh? I am in the same situation, my M2 arrived before the adaptor and I don't have a lens to shoot it
I had to buy quickly from Germany 50mm f/2.8 M mount and I am broke again...
Regards,
b.

I want one of these too (mainly for the price per dollar value). I have read that the R4 is one of the worst Leica SLR cameras ever made on almost every other site except for this one. Whether or not this is because RFF is full of Leica-heads is up for debate. Either way, I would like to try one out sometime and see for myself.

Well, a $200 Leica camera is going to be hard to beat.
While I never knew about this camera until recently, I have never met anyone who ever had a problem with one...LOL. The way I see it, it is about as cheap as a CLA on other cameras and the one I have is an amazing experience. Quite small, very high quality, easy to use and the results are extremely satisfying.
Quick snap of local courthouse, no post processing, pardon the crappy scan by my local lab:

Yep, the shutter is fine...what you guys are experiencing is the cam on the shutter. Note that there is no foam for the mirror as it slaps upwards, the cam takes care of that.
Having used the R4 for a couple of rolls now, I can affirm that it is a helluva camera.
Trouble reading the speeds in low light? Well, try the Nikon F3 with the goofy little light button that hardly ever works. The R4 was cutting edge compared to it's contemporaries and is imminently qualified for my own work.
I cannot think of another camera at such an attractive price that can deliver quality, ergonomics, function and performance like the Leica R bodies.
Will have a review up soon based on my experiences on a couple of projects.
BTW, I haven't had such fun with an SLR since my F5!

Wow.... spent the day with the M3 after letting it sit for a couple of weeks and was shocked at the difference in feel between the R4 and the M3. The shutter...did it release, or was that my imagination? Oh, the kiss of the seductress again....
So far, I have begun writing the review on the R4 and am still bonding with the camera. Learning little things like the 50 Cron's short throw from infinity to 6 feet in focusing...just a quick movement and focus is there, right now! Memo to self: Keep the focus on infinity whilst on location.
Will send off a couple of rolls next week to a major lab in Atlanta because I can no longer tolerate the crappy scans here locally. Hope to have a lot of information available for the R4 review after that.
