This is probably a stupid question, and I think I know the answer, but will Dektol solution that is nearing the end of its life, and is a dark amber color, give lower contrast, warmer toned prints?

My limited experience with aging Dektol is that when it has darkened significantly it either will work more or less as new or will do nothing. I'm sure there is a transitional period with reduced capacity, but I haven't noticed a useful loss of contrast in prints or permanent staining.
