Old Drugstore film

From a drug store, presumably like CVS, probably hasn't been stored optimally. However, I used to buy a lot of OOD film from Ritz, and who knows who long it might have been in the reduced-sale bin before I got it. It was always OK for what I did. I probably wouldn't want it for pro work. I have some seriously OOD film I let my 7 year old grandson use. It is fine for him.

I've shot OOD film over 10 years old & never frozen & it looked good. And I'm talking color film. Like the other poster said don't use it on serious projects. Have fun with it. The only film that I know of that doesn't hold up well OOD is films such as Ilford 3200. Foggs really fast so I'm told, even frozen.

My fridge is bursting with OOD film, frankly.

With Ilford FP4+ B/W film that was 5 years expired I couldn't see any difference with the same film that was fresh (developed in the same tank at the same time).

I have a ton of Fuji Superia 400 and 800 that was 5 years OOD when I got it (and froze it), storage unknown. The big secret is rating it two stops slower than usual, so 400 becomes 100, 800 becomes 200.

I have a really hard time telling 4000dpi scans rom OOD Superia and fresh Superia apart and I started using it for more critical work as well.
