Help me date some found film, please.

I was going thru a box, one I haven't opened since I moved into this place, looking for a purse which I haven't carried for 7 years or so that's sortakinda coming back into style. (True retro is cool!) 🙂

Anyway, among the various detritus which had settled to the bottom 🙂 are two new unexposed rolls of Fuji 400 Super G. Plus. I know this is pre-Superia, but about how much? It has to be at least 5 years old I know, probably 7 or more. No expiration date. There's a code number 005783, but I'm VERY sure it does not date back to 1983! The only thing dated I found in there is a rental car thing from 2001, just before 9-11.

Any idea how old this film really is? Should I use it? Should I use it but not for anything important? Should I just ash-can it? It's been in a cool (but not cold) cellar the past 5 years or so, before that in a room-temperature closet. Unopened plastic Fuji film canisters. It still smells new. 🙂

Anyone know?

TIA! 🙂

I have some Ektar 25 that I am going to shoot pretty
soon and you know how old it is. I plan to use it for
something not too important, but for pleasure. Long
story short, shoot away on something just for fun.

You should use it without reserve. Any colour cast due to aging can easily be dealt with in PS. In August 2008 I shot a roll of Kodak Gold 100 which had expired in 02/90. It was "The Official Film of the 1988 Olympic Games".
