When I got out of the military in 1970, I worked for the brand B local camera store for awhile and remember you well. The owner gave me a crash course in how to tie a string to your every nickel so I didn't last long.
You must have worked for Ball Photo on Gay St. I bought my first M2, 50 rigid Summicron and 21 f3.4 Super Angulon from Ewart Ball. I think it was 1968. They were a bit hard to come by in those days. Snapshot was higher in price but they didn’t have anything at the time as I recall. French Grogan was the Leica guy at Snapshop and was a partner with the Thompson family. Grogan marked used gear up over list price, especially Leica and managed to get it. Grogan was a bit of a crook and was happy to take advantage of customers every opportunity. Old man Ball was that way too but he stayed at the Asheville store so he didn’t see what Ewart was doing.
