Old HC110, New HC110

So, I bought a new bottle of German-made HC110 to replace the old made-in-the-USA syrup I have...and it is too strong? The same dilution with the same manufacturer recommended timings and the same workflow is consistently giving me ridiculously dense negatives for the past 2 rolls now, while the roll developed with what is left of the old bottle produces proper results.

Anyone have any idea what is going on, or anywhere I could get more of the old stock?

Note: In Europe, HC-110 is also sold in 500-mL bottles as a less concentrated syrup which you dilute 1:9 to make dilution B. If you are using that product (Kodak CAT 500 1466), follow the instructions for the European concentrate, not those for the syrup. Although the European type of HC-110 is sold in England, there does not seem to be an English data sheet for it. Full-strength syrup is also sold in Europe so make sure you know which one you have.

Is there still US made HC-110? Kodak sold their chemicals division to Champion a decade ago, and when Champion stopped serving Kodak after the insolvency, Tetenal stepped in - I don't think Kodak Alaris have another supplier.

In any case, the syrupy HC-110 sold now is the same stuff as "old" HC-110 syrup concentrate, perhaps minus the minor differences that will happen when ingredients have to be bought from another supplier.

As p.giannakis pointed out, Kodak Germany once (it does not seem to be available any more) tried to market a consumer version of HC-110 in a less concentrated form. This version was never officially available in the US (and much harder to get than the syrup stock in Germany, but it may have been more relevant elsewhere in Europe). If you used to get a watery solution in half litre bottles that had to be diluted 1:9, you have been using "Euro HC-110", and will have to dilute 1:31 to arrive at the same working strength when using the syrup version. If it already has been syrup then, nothing has changed...

I had suspected it might be the weaker Euro HC110, but the CAT number reveals that it is the current full strength solution. In fact, it might be stronger than the old concentration, as my FP4 developed for 8 minutes in dilution B looks as though it were pushed 2 stops!

Agree, my times/agitation haven't changed (USA purchased, I think Freestyle or B&H). But it is a little less viscous.
