old leica pressure paint brassing

my old leica, model d has very much brassed pressure plate, any tip on repainting it? does it mater?

thanks, it is shiny because i polished it, there was some corrodion..
i will try to get a hold of it, although i cannnot order online easily here.

Has anyone tried stripping the chrome on a Leica and using gun blueing on it? I think that would be gorgeous. And an indestructible finish, pretty much.

I don't think you'd want to paint a pressure plate, as the paint thickness probably would not be uniform; and the film would wear the paint down. I like that chemical treatment idea better!

Isn't blueing for steel? Leica screwmounts are brass.
