Old man - critique welcome

Reposting as I don't know what happened to my thread.

This old man was collecting scraps and loading them into his two large canvas bags that weighed on his shoulders as he ploughed on in search of new sources. His facial expression of his resignation to life's struggles made me follow him to shoot. I shot a shot of him staring at me but it was this side view expression that weighed down on my heart.

Shot with Epson RD1s and Zeiss Sonnar C 50mm/f1.5 at f2.

As I said on the lost thread, if the timing had been different, the car would not have been so close to the man's face. I'll add that there's not quite enough light on the face.

I am Wchuan from Malaysia. Currently I am using R-D1s+35mm Zeiss Biogon ZM F2.0. I would like to get 50mm and have been eyeing the 50mm Sonnar C F1.5.

If I am not mistaken, you've posted a thread complaining about the focus shift issue. And now it has gone in this forum and also you have mentioned it in your FLICKR, it has gone as well.

If possible, could you please explain in detail what does it means focus shift issue?
Hope it is not too troublesome as you have more experience with the sonnar, more importantly both of us own the same R-D1s.

This lens is very sharp and colours are very nice. I believe the Biogon's too.

Here is a thread that probably gives a comprehensive and precise discussion on this matter you have raised. It is not just a nit-pick theoretical issue but it does affect me in a real practical sense, as I like to shoot wide open at f1.5 or f2 in low light conditions. But it's no way compared to my 5D at ISO 1600 with the 85 f1.2L.

Being a bright lens and costing much more than a Zeiss T Planar 50 f2, it is very obvious we all pay to shoot tack sharp pics at f1.5, else I would have saved that extra US$250.

I notice you use the Oly E1 as well as your main cam, like I use my Canon EOS 5D and EF system. Don;t you now learn not to take AF systems and the development of the 35mm SLR for granted?? I would not have been able to shoot paid weddings using the Epson RD1s and range finder system - dead slow.
