Old School Tamrac 608.. Medium Size Low Profile..holds a lot!

I hate messenger bags (too tall, not deep enough, too wide)

I hate many of the newer gadget bags that are oversized with a poor interior design for no good reason (many are too tall for the advertized cameras).

I don't want bag that are over 10-11" Tall!, or over 13-14" Wide.

I have a:
Nikon F2/DP-1 (both overhauled by Sover Wong 😀 )
Nikon: 24/2.8, 28/3.5, 50/1.4, 105/2.5
SB27 Flash
DW-1, AS-1

I do not a suitcase to carry around

I found, after much searching, a vintage (earlier design) Tamrac 608 Pro that holds everything above PLUS up to 10-15 rolls of 35mm, a 7" tablet, filters.

Perfect: For me! 😀

I believe that there is no way to fit more gear into a smaller space than to use a Tamrac bag. I have the Pro system 10, Pro system 8, 706 convertible (converts to shoulder bag or fanny pack). Sounds like you have been converted to Tamrac!

Yes, I was surprised when I unpacked it, and started putting all my Nikon gear in it. I still have room for another lens inside, and a medium lens in an outside pocket!
For a total of 6 lenses to 200mm, one SLR, 2 finders, 10-15 rolls of film, etc., etc. All for $37 from Roberts Camera eBay store!

We are going on a week long road trip vacation, and I "needed" a bag that I put my Nikon film gear in, but also take it with me and still be not too cumbersome.
The Tamrac 608 Pro looked perfect, and I was not disappointed when it arrived

I use a Domke F6 bag for my Nikon F2 outfit,
i.e. F2 body with metered finder and mounted lens, plus 2 or 3 additional lenses, filters, film etc.

Overall the F6 appears smaller but the main compartment is similar in size to that of the Tamrac.
I don't want or need an excessive number of pockets and pouches; I consider them superfluous.
Normally I prefer smaller, slimmer single-row bags when practical, but this one is for my "big kit".

I have several larger bags which were more or less purchasing mistakes.
They are useful for storing seldom used photo gear in the closet at home.

I've always loved Tamrac bags, even though they're not fashionable among rich guys with Leicas here on RFF 😛

I have a closet full of them, and have carried a Tamrac Correspondent 8 (a ballistic nylon copy of the Domke F2 that includes several improvements over the Domke design) for many years. I carry my Canon 5DmkII, Canon 24-105mm f4L-IS lens, Tokina ATX-Pro 17-35mm f4 lens, Sekonic L-758DR meter and Sekonic C700 color meter, Samsung tablet, and some misc. accessories like a remote release and extra battery for the camera. All this stuff fits in that relatively compact bag, and the bag is easy to work out of, everything easy to find.

Bought one of those in 1993. Used it for many years. Finally fell apart about three years ago. Heck of a bag. Congrats.

Have just received a wonderful lightweight Tamrac rucksack. maybe someone will tell me which model when he sees. it shows only patent-no. very versatile/universal.
Not the same like the wide Tenba from 70ties. one of the first ones. not very protecive cover.

Thanks for educating on Tamrac history, I didn't know they are this long. My Tamrac bags are only five and seven years old (intact and perfect).

I have large Domke for laptop and cameras as well. Crappiest bag of this type and purpose I ever have in the holders of shoulder belt part. The rest is on pair with Tamrac. I guess, this was the reason why it went on sale at BH for half of the price.
