Interesting article in Sunday's New York Times about the rise of old-style soft-porn magazines.

You know a photog named Tom Kelley and his wife Natalie (interesting that he got his wife involved in this deal) shot the greatest soft porn shot known to man - Marilyn Monroe on red velvet in a cold drafty room. She was paid $50 bucks for the session, big bucks in that day and age, and she was starving and couldn't pay the rent! Hugh Hefner would probably be a nobody if not for that photograph. Don't ever underestimate the power of a beautiful woman and a good photographer shooting with a good camera...particulary if a marketing genius gets involved... 🙂

He is right, he was there first and this is nothing new, except mostly Tom is really retro real.

I don't know whether to give up or be inspired, it is good stuff and hardly porn.

Those are A-list models, not Model Mayhem girls. But he's got great situations and story lines, appropriate lighting and styling, it's a lot harder than it looks.

Interesting models and some nice poses, but they don't look retro so much as oddly developed and in some cases, they seem to be shot by someone who didn't care about the details.
