Oleg Oprisco, Ukrainian photographer

I don't care how he produces his photos or artwork, I found his stuff different, interesting, and well executed. But that is just me.....

I am more fascinated by fact he quit his job (in agency?) as he felt losing inspiration and started doing what he liked more. This is real point. Pictures, no matter what he uses or produces, there always are people who like or not someones output. Lots of people just convince themselves to stay where they are, out of convenience and stability.

What else is new... someone posts a photographer that they like and the RFF usuals slag on it.

I don't quite know how to take that. Are you saying that one should always say when one likes something but never say when one does not?

I could post all day about things I do not like...but I don't. I just see too much negativity towards photographers on this site.

Really accomplished/successful people sometimes forget to be kind to some "lesser" work. Other times they do it on purpose to spur others to really great things when they recognise an undeveloped potential in one's work.

jsrockit, your post can also be taken an attempt by thought control by a moderator. There is nothing in the posts by Sejanus.Aelianus and others above that stated, gently enough, that these pictures were not to their cup of tea. To me they're Hallmark-cardish, and not at all typical of an Eastern Europeam aesthetic, as suggested by emmef2. As this is not en exclusively hardware discussion forum, there should be no problem with discussing such things.

If I post pictures, the last thing I want is a chorus of praise without any critical consideration.

Just because I'm a moderator doesn't mean I can't use the forum like a non-mod. I simply stated an opinion. Maybe I chose the wrong thread to do so. However, I'm not so sure why many feel the need to slag other photographers. If someone posts about a photographer they like, there is always someone around to tell them why they are wrong. Isn't it easy enough to just not comment?

It was nothing personal against SA. He just happened to reply to my post. I think we should learn to respect other photographers here...even if it's not our style of work.

Of course... but since I'm pretty sure Mr. Oprisco is not posting to RFF, I'm sure any praise or criticism we give will go on deaf ears. I'm just not sure of the value in slagging other photograhers that others like here. It seems just as silly as going into a thread about a camera that people love and then telling them that you hate it.

jsrockit, the issue as I see it is not "slagging," as you put it. This is a photography forum and some people like to discuss something beyond the length of the camera strap a photographer is using. Anyone who posts photos publicly on the web must realize that his or her pictures may be discussed, positively or negatively, somewhere else on the web.
