Oly 35SP foto samples from far east.

Hi.

I did some test run on the Oly 35SP, think it is now fit to work solely on my documentary works.

For this test:
Fully manual with available light
Fully manual with flash.

Expired Fuji Superia and Kodak both ISO 200.

Speed 60 f4, 2.8
Speed 30 f4, 2.8

Is Masjid Putra (Putra Mosque) in Kuala Lumpur (I firstly thought it was Indonesia, but googled a little and found it is Malaysia).

herman, can u educate us a bit more about shooting in a masjid? Whats the regulations/religious norms like. From what i recall, it was very strongly frown upon, even in singapore.... is it more liberal in malaysia?

I dont know about the rules and requlation photographing in masjid/mosque in other countries.

Anyway, these are some basic guidelines which i hope will help:-

1. Proper clothing - No shorts - No sleevless - Shoes off
2. Women - has to wear headscarf
3. No food allowed
4. No smoking allowed
5. Cleanliness is very-very much appreciated
6. Dont argue with the guard
7. Smiles always.
8. Talk nicely ask permission.


In my country, in some selected masjid, a proper cloth will be given to the tourist by the guard incharge, that is , if your cloth is found to be inappropriate by the authority.

Apart from that you will be fine.

note: To reduce tension and attention to yourself, a silent camera with no flash will help alot - as ppl are praying.😉

As a new owner of an SP I am happy to see the performance. I agree the middle picture is especially nice.

I am also a big fan of documentary photography and would love to see more.

Very nice Herman. Your pictures give me some encouragement as I have thought about shooting in a Hindu temple. The same general rules probably apply.

yeah..i did some shooting during the Thaipusam Festival at my place..and plan to go to a very nice acrhitecture siamese temple down town. perhaps a couple of shots would do..
