Oly OM: 3rd parties lenses?

See what you've got yourself into, Nico?

Here's mine:

OM-2n, Sigma 21-35 f/3.5/4.5, Vari-Magni Finder

The Sigma 21-35 appears to be rather rare in Olympus OM-mount. I like its performance, and it suits the way I usually use the camera (which lives atop a tripod 75% of the time as an ersatz miniature view camera, hence the Olympus Vari-Magni Finder you see attached to it).

Here's a question for the experts:

is the Samyang 85/1.4 usable via adapters on OMs ? I read somewhere that it exists in adaptall mount.

Nico, there is a Kiron 90/2.5 on ebay, right now: 360283472889. Same glass as my Vivitar Series 1. A little bigger than the equivalent Leica lens though (here compared with an M-Hex 90/2.8 :)

Roland,
thanks for the link.
Interesting question on the samyang 85; I just checked on the official local distributor and, actually, in Italy that lens is not sold in Om or adaptall mount.
Ciao

Gentlemen, if you don't mind, I joined the club a month ago:
Oly OM1n + 50mm f:1.8 + 28mm f:3.5. After small research, I have found that OM lenses are real miracle! I mean, 21mm f:2.0 - that is really fast & wide! Test roll awaits it scaning, results with 28mm will be here soon! Regards, Vlad.

Hi Petar
I hope you'll post some photos soon, and not only to evaluate Om lenses rendition,
ciao

Tokina used to make some very very good lenses.

60-120/2.8 AT-X. quite small for what it is and with only 55mm filter thread!
24-40/2.8 AT-X. Extremely well made and sharper than any comparable zoom out there.

one lens that had surprised me by its performance is one of the newer Tokinas: the 28-105/3.5-4.8 SZ-X. I've tested it on EOS APS-C sized sensor, and it is surprisingly sharp even wide open! Unfortunately there is no Zuiko with this range, so if zoom range and small size is the priority, one has to look for other brands too.

I'm with you on this for sure.

I'm with you on this for sure.

I've always thought it a shame to mount large lenses on the OM. Seems to undermine the point. Am I alone?

The OM cams we generally get for their wonderful small size why ruin the size with a huge 180 or 200! Doesn't make sense to me.

I remember reading about a 20mm Spiratone that was considered quite good.

Can anyone else shed any light on this lens?

I have a Vivitar 28mm f/2.8 "Close Focus" made by Komine that looks quite sharp and also the Komine built Series 1 70-210 f/2.8-4 which has slight fungus traces and a sticky aperture. Both take excellent pictures. I also have a few non SP Tamrons which work quite well too (24, 28, 35-70 and 200) on all my SLR systems.

Ciao Tony :),
actually I wanted an Om because it's a small size camera and because it allows me to put a good 180 or 200 on it.
With the OM I can have the best of 2 worlds:a small camera with small and good normals/wides like the Rf cameras and the opportunity to mount some good tele when it comes in the need.
cheers

Does someone have any experience or knowldge of Cosina Om mount lenses (there's a cheap 24/2,8 around here that's very tempting...)?
thanks...
