Olympus 35 ECR experience

The huge advantage the RC has over the ec and ecr is exposure lock-
push the release slowly until the needle stops moving, then compose.
Also the RC shutter release has a much better feel, you can tell pretty well when exactly the shutter opened, where the ec/ecr shutter is a long vague mash with no real positive indication of what exactly just happened or when. You can hear it, but not so much feel any kind of peak release through the fingertip..
I believe the shutter spring in the ec/ecr is powered by the shutter button, rather than wound along with the film advance.

The RC is a bit bigger though and has that pesky wind lever and crank on top..

Finally I bought the rc because it can work without electricity as well. Nice little rangefinder camera, I like it!

and now I have the ECR (~ 19 $) with the rare (working) batteries inside. 🙂

I like the look of this camera and the ideas how to make it easy to use, full of metal.

And another interesting technical detail: you load the film from the left side... 🙂

For the first look I like this camera better then the rc but it's another philosophy (this is the only time when I prefer a full electronic camera to an electronic/mechanical one)

Those batteries are small and always having spares is easy. I keep spares stashed in my camera bags, in my car, etc.

I'm after the first test roll of the olympus 35 rc. I used the sunny 16 rule because I shot the roll before I bought the batteries for the lightmeter.

The results are amazing, very good, I like this camera, unfortunately I ordered scanning of the pictures but (I dunno why) the didn't scanned it. So hopefully from the next roll I can show a few shots.

I haven't shot the test roll of the ecr but this weekend I will be ready. 🙂 I prefer the look of the ecr than the rc but in general both cameras are looking good.
