Olympus 35 XA2 shutter help

Greetings-
My XA2 has developed an issue where the shutter only fires correctly with the factory flash attached. If not, iven in bright light, the low light warning is on, and the shutter will stay open for @ half a second. Has fresh batteries
Any thoughts?

From that description, it sounds like the light meter has failed. It could be something as simple as a desoldered wire though.
