So I purchased an Olympus 35RC on the bay... the description seemed like I was taking a chance but I won the auction and it was on my door step this morning.

However its pretty dinged up, after a little scrubbing I got the viewfinder back to its old factor, a new battery, and testing all the shutter speeds; all a-ok. However it looked like the thing was dropped on its corner (the corner slants downward slightly) and the film advance bunches up... you have to push it back.. it does not return on its own. Well it seemed that it could still work so I loaded it with film; after a few frames the film had jumped track. So I tried it again and it seems like anytime it gets to the 6th or 7th frame the advance just loses its grip... so the film just jumps.

So any suggestions? I'll upload photos of the camera's condition when I get home... I really love this little camera and don't want to abandon it just because its not advancing properly.

I am hoping the film I have run through it has a few frames so I can see if there are light leaks or if the focusing is accurate.

Thanks in advance

Many camera repair and restoration hobbyists hang out here:

You want to check it out and even join. The Olympus RC as well as many of the other small Olympus cameras are very tightly packed "under the hood". They can be very diificult to repair at home if there is a lot of impact damage.

Hope you can salvage your RC, it's a great little camera -

When I first got mine, I had a smilar thing happen with the film bunching up also after the 6th or 7th frame. I thought it was a problem with the advance, but it had to do with the way I loaded the film - I didn't tension the film enough with the rewind lever after loading. This might not be the case for you, just wanted to throw it out there if it helps

hmmm.... I guess I'll try it another roll and see if I can take up even more slack

but thanks for the suggestions!!!

Seems like a common Problem, I have a same RC with a hefty Dent on the right Side, near the Advancelever. After a Testroll, i see that only 6 Frames where Exposed (very sharp btw). but then came 2 multible exposed frames and thats all.
I load a new Roll and advance it again and again with open back to see wheres the problem: the small advance gear doesnt work perfect round, so some dents doesnt gripe in the perforation of the film.
