Just for the record, there was also a PS200 Quick which took 4 batteries instead of the 2 of the PS200.
Going back a little earlier there was the Olympus Flash CL which was used horizontally instead of upright but used flash bulbs and a 15v battery from memory. There were very neat on the cameras.
And, of course, there were/are dozen of flashes similar in shape and output to the PS200 and PS100G. It shouldn't be a problem finding one.

PS (Edit) Just dug out a brochure from Olympus dated - I guess - April 1970 and it features the Flash CL and PS 100G and the cameras were the SP, RC, ECR and Trip 35 plus the FTL and PenEE-2 and EES-2.

For horizontal flash, you have the original Olympus PS100 G, but it is a little big.you have it in the SP manual, but you will have to be patient ... i waited several months until one appeared in ebay, its hard to get. Now you have one hard to get also in ebay, and with the box, the PS200 Quick, it uses 4 batt instead of 2, but the charging time is 3-4 sec, instead of 7 sec on the normal PS200. i just posted some photos for all to see:
The PS100 G have about 5 sec recycling time, uses 2 batteries, about 200 flashes, cost me about 15€, seen it go up to 20-25. think it worth waiting, just to know that it is the original flash for the camera, and rare.
I've taken now photos with the Olympus Flash CL (small,with bulbs, but with really high power), looks so nice on the camera, and the PS200 Quick. I think olympus fans will enjoy, since its rare to see the camera with these flashes.

A nice little flash is the Sunpak 170 (Sunpak 100 or 200 in the U.S., I think).
It takes two AA (rechargeable OK), has thrysitor technology for quick recycle times and has automatic and manual settings.
