It's a lovely looking camera, but in the UK, list price with kit zoom seems to be £999. I'm being polite when I say that price seems just a trifle high.
A wee bit. That puts it into direct competition with the Fuji XE-1. Which is a tough target.
It is prettier, mind #shallow
EDIT: It does occur to me that the Olympus is probably a better bet for using 'legacy' lenses on, so you may find a lot of bodies sold on their own, with a later upgrade on the lens stock, usually for the wider end, at a guess.
It's very pretty, but crazy expensive, but the PENs have always been like this, get the early adopters with the high price, get everyone else when the price slumps. The EP-3 was like this, it's $500 (Aus) with lens now, a bit more reasonable.
I'd take the OM-D, but the EP-5 is lovely to look at.
Don't forego the new 16 Mp sensor, when you can have that new sensor at 16Mp in the E-PL5 and E-PM2 for just a bit more money than the 12Mp E-P3.
I just bought and love the new sensor in my Olympus E-Pl5 with the new sensor, new process engine, purchased for $475 factory refurbished by Oly. I don't know if the E-P3 has a better control/menu system, but I'm sure loving that new sensor and the incredibly fast touch focus/shoot after having both the E-PL1 and E-Pl2 for the last three years, or thereabout.
And then there is that great articulated large touch screen on E-PL5. The only thing you give up on the E-PM2 is the articulation for $100 less. (directly in line with the EP3 price.)
Passing up the new Sony 16Mp sensor would be SYITF* move at this point.
I'm really liking my little $500 offspring of the EM5. That's with the second gen 14-42 very fast focus lens. The smaller lens is proof of the theory that smaller parts in the lens focus faster. Blinding speed. Perfect pairing.🙄
