The ecr finder is not as bright by a long shot, but it's still good, the ecr finder is just the same as the 35 RC finder without the speed and iris needle in it. The ec2 has just a lamp and a needle pointing to the focus icons, which are also on the lens along with the meters and feet.
The ec2 also differs from the ecr with the placement of the photocell. The ec2 has a separate window for the cell above the lens, looking like some kind of rf window, and the asa dial is a thumbwheel on the back of the camera, the ecr has the cell on the lens front like the RC. This means you have to manually compensate for filters on the ec2, but it also means you can manually easily compensate for backlit exposure with a filter on, where you'd have to take the filter off to get to the front mounted asa dial on an ecr.
Another really bright happy finder is on the xa2. But no icons in that one.
The ec2 has impossible to obtain batteries, which is a blessing and a curse, curse because they are impossible to get, blessing because the batteries were always expensive and later became rare, so most ec2 didn't get all that much use it seems, but the cameras are too pretty and heavy to just throw away, so they do show up on ebay cheap.
