Olympus Mju - yours for $400!

only $100-130 too much.

i went with a konica big mini bm-302, $160 in mint condition. f3.5 isn't so bad, is it? and it looks so much nicer. 🙂

"Brand new and newer used. Film and batteries inside since a day of purchase."

Always comforting to pay top dollar for a camera that has had a battery sitting in it for 20 years or so. What could possibly go wrong?

The price is obscene, it became a cult camera. I had many mju's II - bought them for 5 to 30€, played, sold for much more. But I always keep at least one mju II ( it happens to be the one I bought brand new when they were still in production), maybe I should have kept two with the current prices because I really like this camera.

Bought mine for $30 which I thought was expensive. Sold for $125. Hated that you had to keep turning off the flash.

I sold a non-mint one with some minor scratches on ebay last year for $300. Evidently they were big on college campuses as pocketable, go-anywhere cameras.

Given what mint cameras go for, I wouldn't be surprised if someone was willing to pay $350-400 for it.

It became a single motion to me — open the cover and tap the flash button twice. Annoying, but manageable.

Turning any old camera into a cult camera always jacks up the price to ridiculous levels.

I been trying to laud the FED 5B and 5C cameras into cult status, so I can get rid of some for a good profitable price , but no luck. 🙁

Maybe if one is used in a Blockbuster Hollywood movie then that will change.

This explains it for sure!

I have 2, 3 and Zorki, but 5B is one which works fine and has normal flash terminal and frames counter. Too large I guess. Like Bessa R2M. 😀

The Fed 5B and 5C cameras have been the most reliable of my LTM FSU cameras. (but they are the newest too)

The only problem with them is VF fogging on the 5C and the RF ( vertical and horizontal 2nd image) needs frequent re-calibration because it tends to go out of wack even with Loctite or nailpolish on the adj' screw and prism bezel.

Not a big deal but kind of a pain.

One of the reasons I love Mju II is that this camera tends to prioritize wide aperture thus making DOF quite narrow - great for portraits. I know - not so good for landscape, but it depends on what you shoot...

But what about the death of film!?😛

I saw an xa2 at a local antique store for $180 and scoffed. Prices for small cult cameras are on the rise

Hmm , I have a minty XA still in the box but I always preferred the simple XA 1 with the selenium metering as the ideal P&S machine.

At one time thru the 1980s and early 1990s, I managed to buy a total of 11 new XA 1 cameras, but I only have one well used Oly XA 1 left, as I gave the rest away as gifts to various people.

🙄 I don't think I ever extrapolated it to DoF level.

XA and Mju are flaky cameras with crapping out electronics, once you start to use them (not in one roll per year mode).
Status or not, they are not made anymore and becoming less and less available. Because they are not build like FED-5D to last. 🙂

The XA -1 is the most rugged of the Oly XA series

Most well used top of the line XA cameras tend to have faded RF patch that makes them scale focusing cameras.

I never had any problems running many rolls of film thru the simple XA-1 and I found them to be rugged cameras for plastic compact clam-shell cameras.

I got one XA-1 back from a family relative that was broken beyond repair, as his kid ran over it with his bike on the lawn.

The VF was still intact though and I made a separate 35mm VF from the salvaged optics and hand made a hand- filed brass casing complete with a cold foot to fit my FSU cameras when I use the J-12 lens on them.

my XA sees weekly use. It's a great grab and go camera if I don't feel like taking a camera bag with me. Mines a little scuffed and has some use to it but the viewfinder is in excellent shape.
