Olympus OM-2S

This might sound like a stupid question but how do I turn the camera off, is it just simply by having it on manual/spot mode?

Also, is it true the OM-2S has a battery drownage problem and is there an easy way to fix that? I popped in a CR-1/3N battery (expired since 2005) and after playing with the camera a bit and also using the battery check and VF illuminator button it kind of went dead.. I have two SR44 in it now and it works fine again.

I'd basically just be interested in any tips regarding this sublime SLR!

The OM-2s turns itself off after a certain amount of time (I think 15 seconds) after you take your finger off the shutter release. It still uses power while off, as it never really goes totally off, just sleeps. Using silver oxide batteries helps as they handle the drain much better than lithiums or alkalines.

Is there any way to remove the flash shoe? I noticed it had removed a large portion of wool on my sweater the other day, whilst carrying it around my neck 😀

On the OM-2S, no, it's stuck in. Should have bought a OM-2n 😛

LR44s go in no time , SR44s last better. They're worth the battery hassle for the spotmeter, and program mode when you just need to take the shot and only have time to focus. Flash is nothing to worry about either. 🙂
