I recently got an Olympus Pen S pretty cheap from eBay but it was broken. I was going to repair it but after I took out all the screws on the top plate I found that it still wouldn't come off. It moves around a lot and I can lift it up a fair way but it won't come all the way off. When I wiggle it, it seems to be fixed where the hotshoe is but there are no other screws that I can see and the hotshoe won't budge.

I would value any input whatsoever because I've already broken a screwdriver and cracked the viewfinder glass trying to get the top off.:bang:

(p.s. I've seen the instructable/flickr album about taking apart the Pen EE but it doesn't help. Just adding this because that's the only advice anyone has given me so far).

Hi,
I opened up a original Pen just last weekend. They are indeed constructed differently to the later ones. If I remember correctly there was an additional screw underneath the accessory shoe. There's a thin metal sheet covering the shoe which has to be removed first to access it. I don't know how to explain it but it kind of clicks into the shoe. you'll have to loosen it from the front of the shoe and then it should slide off toward the back.
