Olympus RC aperture question

Haven't used my RC in a while and I noticed something. It may not be working. I use it without batteries so not sure if that is the problem.

While looking into the lens, the aperture blades are on the smallest, or stopped down all the way when I turn the aperture around. I have film in it so I probably need to take it out to see how the aperture works. The blades should open and close when I move the aperture right?

The aperture blades should open only when you half press the shutter release button.

Oh yeah! I guess I'm having senior moments
