Olympus RC35 and off camera flash

Hello.
I have a beautiful rc35 and small rollei flash so I wonder is it possible to connect this flash with PC sync cable to camera and using flashmatic (without putting it in shoe mount?

I think so, there's no linkage necessary except triggering the flash. You set flashmatic mode and guide number on the camera. You need to keep the flash at approximately the same distance from the subject that the camera is of course, or compensate for different distance with the guide number or ISO setting.

Above is 100% correct. You can also use the 35RC without flashmatic by selecting the Aperture and Shutter Speed. This does require the use of a flash meter though.

I tried to find this guy that used a 35RC with a remote trigger; the photos were chromes and he had a umbrella highlighting the model and a couple of slave flashes in a classic car at sundown. That series was great

charjohncarter thanks also for these links, photos are great,...so as the rc 🙂, I am really excited for using it with off camera flash. I just recieve short pc sync cable and awaiting for another longer one

I am finishing a short testing roll of Delta 100 with flash and I noticed one strange thing. Flash is Rollei E15b and when it's connected with PC sync cable and mounted on shoe it doesn't charge, actually there is a sound like charging but light doesn't ever go on, but when its not connected on shoe (only with cable) everything works fine. Have you ever had similar problems?

Somehow the flash is shorting out on the shoe: find a plastic shoe adapter. I would check further than just ordering this but something like here:

Looking at above, I don't think that will work but you can find something like it.

Thanks. Maybe i could try to put something that isolate (dont know the word, something made of plastic or paper), to put between shoe and flash that doesnt make electric contact

I've done that, I used Cello tape that is what it is called in England. And in the USA it is called Scotch tape. I would try it on the flash unit, it would be easier to work with. Usually, the flash has a plastic bottom so really very little to isolate.

I tried but still it doesnt work. I really dont know what could be the problem.
