Hi everyone,

I recently acquired an Olympus SP camera. The shutter is working, but the lens could use some cleaning (fungus) and the electronics need to be reworked. I've done some basic camera repair stuff before, but this seems more complicated than something I want to dive into without guides. Does anyone have advice for repair? I've looked on the internet, and haven't found many guides for this camera. I also looked at zuiko.com, but $100 plus shipping is on the high end of what I can afford as a student.

Thanks!

If your lens issues are all on the front element, getting it out isn't bad at all. From memory, screw off the retaining ring, remove the faceplate carefully (making sure the wires don't get messes up), unscrew the lens. The back element retires much more disassemble over all.

I don't have any advice on the electronic unless it is just a corroded contact (clean with vinegar, pltentially replace wires) or a disconnected wire (solder it).

I haven't found much info on repairing it over all though I so have one stripped down a bit that I just got back to working on.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, most of the fungus appears to be right in the middle of the lens, so access from either front or rear elements might be a bit tricky.

As for the electronics, the contact does show some corrosion, so I'll try to clean that off and hope that does it.
